I recently had one of these Hidden Hitches (part# 87506) installed on my 2009 Honda Element EX. After doing much research, note that Hidden Hitch, Reese, and DrawTite are owned by the same parent company! Therefore, in the end, it didn't come down to one company pitched against another. I sought a hitch that would require no drilling (i.e., direct bolt-on), and one that had a 2" receiver since it is by far the most popular with market products. This is opposed to the Class 1 hitch that is available, albeit with a 1-1/4" receiver, drilling required in the spare wheel well (that you later have to seal so water and exhaust fumes don't make their way back into the passenger cabin), and in my opinion, an inferior design as far as load distribution is concerned.Pros
- Direct bolt-on, as advertised
Cons
- I would suggets that Hidden Hitch improve upon their powder coating process. Within a day or two after installation, the tip of the receiver already showed oxidation, even before I loaded the receiver with any attachments. I think this could have avoided through a better paint prep and finish coat. I guess my hitch will be like all others I see: they end up rusting and being an eyesore on the vehicle.
Otherwise, it does the job, and I'm glad to enhance the capabilities of my SUV with this item.
