This high tech garment has elastic stirrups at the bottom cuff to accommodate different inseams for men and women as well as prevent them from riding up. Each pair of Draggin' Liners can accomodate inseams between 30" and 36". Most importantly Draggin' Liners have two layers of KEVLAR¨ at the knees, seat and hips for added protection. Each pair of Draggin Liners is handmade in the USA! The natural color of KEVLAR¨ is canary yellow. Once it is exposed to sunlight it will deepen to a goldenrod shade. Slight variation in color (as well as the color change) is not only normal, but to be expected.Size Small fits 28 to 30 inch waists, Medium 32 to 34 inch waists, Large 36 to 38 inch waists, and X-Large 40 to 42 inch waists. If you fall between sizes, we recommend sizing down.
Draggin' Liners Size Medium - Motorcycle Apparel Made From 100% Kevlar¨ Review
This is listed as 100% kevlar, and I don't doubt that. (ankle cuffs excluded I believe)Their Draggin' Jeans are well known, but are not fully lined. Jeans rip apart, so I like the fully covered option.
They are a little bulky, about like a thick waffle weave long underwear.
They are quite porous, so they don't insulate all that much, which is nice for summer. For winter it means an extra layer of bulk over/under real insulation, which can get a little thick. While moving, you can definitely feel airflow through them. I wear a wind breaker between these and jeans when the windchill gets low. They offer practically no insulation at speed. I have not worn them in summer heat yet, but I would expect them to be ok while moving, standing around might get a little warm.
I don't like the stitching on the ankle straps. I sewed them to the cuff with a box stitch and an X (go look at a nylon strap on your luggage/backpack). Otherwise, the strap is only held on at the end where the cuff meets the pant-leg. I tuck them into my boot, so it's probably not an issue, just in case.
The knees and hips are double thickness. If you get the pads, there are no pockets, so the pads velcro to the inner surface.
Sizing: If you're between sizes, consider the next size up. I'm a true 31", and got the medium listed as 32-34. They're snug but not tight. The inseam on these is probably ok for anyone 30-32" inseam. I'm a 31.5", and they stretch enough to not have a baggy crotch.
Actual measurements for size (M):
-Waist without stretching: 24" (the waist is fairly bulky, four layers + elastic)
-Waist stretched: easily 32-34", actually stretches much further, past 38", but might get a little tight. It's very stretchy.
-inseam: measures 30" to the start of the cuff, the cuff adds another ~2.5"
-inseam stretched: it easily stretches another 1.5-2", after that, the fabric doesn't have much give. If you're long legged, the larger size might be better, since as you sit on the bike, pants get shorter as knees bend.
The comment about color change is true. They come packaged in clear plastic, so the exposed surface will be darker. I don't walk around with these exposed (please don't), so that doesn't bother me.
4/5 because S/M/L sizing options are a bit limited, and the ankle elastic is a little iffy. Otherwise, I hope I never have to give a product test report.
