I purchased this headset in October, but just started to use it on my Giro ski helmet recently. I bought this to replace the Motorola unit that came with the helmet. The Motorola unit worked quite well both for music and telephone. The controls were easy to use and I was happy with the unit except for one thing. When it got really cold the sound would have blackouts. It would have long pauses where there was no music. I was certain that this was due to the battery not having enough juice. The temperature was over 20 for the most part there was no problem. New England ski conditions are usually much colder and then the system became unreliable. The Motorola battery is built into the system and is not replaceable. So I tried the Sena unit. The unit feels well constructed with good materials. It was easy to install, sliding in underneath the Styrofoam between the plastic outershell the same shape that the Motorola unit had. You do have to cut the fabric liner just behind the ear area as it is one continuous piece with the Motorola. The Bluetooth sets up instantly with my iPhone 5 and works flawlessly with the telephone function. The controls are easy to use.You can pause the music easily and restart it even with heavy mittens on. To advance tracks forward or back or change volume you would need to take your hand out of the mitten or be wearing lighter gloves. I find this acceptable as the pause function and phone answering is what I use the most.Music too works well but is severely lacking in bass. I saw this as a comment with some other users and it seems to be consistent.I was able to improve this to some degree by installing a Denon equalizer app and running my music through that. It brings it up to a level that is functional for skiing but does not have the audio quality that I experienced with the Motorola. Apple's own equalizer doesn't seem to make any difference at all. You cannot use the Denon with Pandora.
I am contacting Sena to find out if there is any fix for this problem with the bass. Stay tuned.
