Got these for my 2011 Subaru WRX STI. Looks to be decent quality but like the previous review, I'm curious how they'll hold up when subjected to pounds of slush stuck to them.Regarding installation, here are a few things to keep in mine: the video on youtube is great; just watch that a few times and you'll know exactly what to do. For the most part, you don't need to take off the wheels but in my case, I took the rear wheels off because I just couldn't get my tools in between the tire and the fender. I didn't take the front wheels off. Installation is really two parts -- get the brackets on, get the flaps on. Getting the flaps on is easy; getting the brackets on will involve removing plastic fasteners. These plastic fasteners are relatively fragile. For the phillips head fasteners, turn the screwdriver gently counter-clockwise and then clockwise gently and several times to loosen the fastener. I had one that would not come off and ended up destroying it to get it off. The other one came off using what I suggested above -- it's easier if you do it this way. I ended up going to the dealer to get a new plastic fastener to replace the broken one (I think about $3). If I recall correctly, there are two plastic fender fasteners for each front fender that will remain unused -- keep these in case you need them elsewhere. Part two (installing the flaps) is just a matter of turning some screws into plastic backings. Be very careful not to over-tighten -- if you do, the plastic will become mangled and useless and you'll have to request replacement parts (I was very careful -- the written instructions mention this). The only tricky part is getting the flaps to be parallel with the ground -- a little interesting if you have one tire up on a jack and at an angle.
My only complaint (quite minor) is the "don't over-tighten" stuff -- specifically, using plastic as the backing. I don't like this idea because it seems weak. Perhaps it's "good enough" and we'll see how these hold up.
I really like the "rally" look of these. Th make the car look a little more aggressive; but it's not overly aggressive (for example, when you're trying to draw attention). They serve a function -- protect paint, keep slash off of the side of the car, etc. These keep the noise down when I'm on a dirt/gravel road (probably because pebbles are no longer hitting my paint). Interesting thing: when I was parting the rear fender to install the bracket, I noticed a few handfuls of dirt inside the fender. I wonder if these will keep dirt like that from accumulating in there.
These were quickly shipped to me and the folks on the phone were happy to answer questions. Bottom line, I recommend these. I hope to report on how they hold up during/after the next Winter.
