I rode 35,000km around Europe through 37 countries on a BMW F650GS Twin, over 10 months, through snow in temps down to -3 up to 40 degrees in the summer and through countless days of bucketing rain. At least a third of those km I would have been wearing, as I have come to call it, the banana suit.

I purchased the ProRain suit a couple of months prior to setting off on a motorbike trip around Europe. Having worn two piece rain gear before in the past on previous long haul trips I know that there isn't much stopping the rain pressure from getting through and you end up with a wet and cold crouch area.

I wore this every day during the colder days as my outer layer. It stopped the wind getting through and allowed the thicker layers I had on underneath to keep me warm. On the wet days it did its job and stopped ALL the rain getting through.

A few points, they work better with long boots (waterproof boots of course). I occasionally had trouble with my low cut boots as the ankles would ride up and let water through. Although a pair of waterproof socks called sealskins solved that problem. You get very good neck coverage but if it is lashing down rain then you really need a neck guard that attaches to your helmet, and a pair of rain gloves. Finally, ensure that you run your finger along the velcro strip to push it down and make sure there are no gaps, otherwise a small amount of water may get in, so long as you run the finger down though you will be completely dry.

Another point worth mentioning is just how much it makes you stand out, if you are safety conscious you can be assured that you will be seen on the road if you are wearing this. Especially during inclement weather.

The durability on this thing is awesome, I thrashed it, it got covered in grease, mud, got stretched. I would lash it about getting it off when I was rushing to get my gear off. Step on the legs and rub them on the bitumen while trying to put them on at the side of the highway. It is still going strong and I am still using it now that I am back home in Australia. If it ever wears out I will definitely buy another one, and at the price it is excellent value. I am surprised BMW don't try and ask for more given the amount they charge for their goretex and rallyeye suits.

Seriously, just buy it already.
