It is pictured in reclining position, but it can be adjusted into a more upright position. The seat is very wide and no bar at front making it a super comfy lounge chair-- even for taller, wider people. This has all the comfort of an antigravity recliner, but is better for gathering, conversing and being slothful together. The carbon color is very nice. Unlike the picture, it is a very neutral chameleon color, that could read dark beige or warm gray. The arm straps are khaki and The "lafuma" print is very subtle. My only surprise was that it is not very compact when folded. So, it is less functional as a portable chair.
