This heavy duty locking cubby cover replaces the existing flimsy cover from the factory. Constructed from 16 gauge and 1/8'' thick welded steel. It creates secure storage in the hidden floor compartment which is ideal for securing valuable tools and gear. The unique design features our Pry-Guard locking system with 1/8'' thick steel components and a welded continuous steel hinge. The lid also provides a sturdier and more durable deck surface for items placed on top.

So, unlike the 1 star review for this product. I love it. JEEP, makes changes in their floorboards and carpets, often- so to not quadruple the price, to have a different model for every single year, to fit... just perfectly- they, like most, keep it in the range of jeep types- this one being for the JK. 2007-2012. Wanting a lockbox, for the back, of a jeep... you would think a pin hole in your rug isn't going to kill you. Gasp! As from the pictures- you do not use the plastic/carpeted OEM cover. You can purchase rugging though, and adhere it to the top of this- if you really wanted to. I like the dinged and scratched up tuffy cover- because I own a real jeep. and take mine offroading- and a little dirt and scratches never hurt a jeep. As for installation, I don't remember it- which means it went smoothly and without frustration. As for construction, it's 16 gauge steel- it will take a substantial time, even with a crow bar to break into and pry open. But sure, it could be done, it's a locking cubby cover- not a vault. I thick they're well made, and live up to Tuffy's name, and would recommend them to everyone not afraid of breaking a nail installing it.
