I'm a newbie to the private aviation world, a student actually and was getting grossed out by having to use and choose from the large rack of headsets that are there for anyone to use since with some sets I was having to put the mic SO close to my mouth in order to be heard (EW!!! Gross, right?).

I'm sure that anyone looking to buy a headset gets how expensive lessons can be so I really need to save as much money as I can for now. But, in this case, saving money does NOT mean cheap! I LOVE, love, love the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the right side. Not only can you listen to your iPod, you can hook up your iPhone 4S (and above) and hear GPS directions as well as make a call if needed (so I can see when I'm getting close to mom's house, call her and tell her to go outside and look up, so I can wave my wings at her!). One VERY COOL perk is that when you have your iPhone hooked up to this headset (using a 3.5 mm male to male cable), the mic of the HEADSET acts as the mic for the phone. I have an iPhone 4S so I have no idea about other phones (sorry).

Also, another reviewer made a note that some have complained about having sound in only 1 ear. This is because this headset also has a stereo/mono switch close to the jacks, right before the cable splits into 2. It MUST be set to mono! There is no stereo sound, at least in the smaller aircraft I've flown! I found this out when it happened to me!

Anyway, I'm in love with this headset! It has some features the most expensive of headsets don't!
